The mission of the Mount Snow Academy snowboard program is to develop the students’ mental strength and abilities in order to create well-rounded athletes. We prepare our athletes for all levels of snowboard competition including the USASA Nationals, Revolution Tour, Grand Prix, X-Games, World Cup, and even the Olympics.

Rigorous on-hill preparation, supported by extensive dry land training, allows our athletes to reach their full potential in their snowboard careers. Mount Snow offers renowned facilities with their world class Super-Pipe and multiple terrain parks.

Snowboard Coaches

Anthony Corbo, Snowboard Program Director

Anthony started instructing at Mount Snow in 2006 at Mtn. Riders teaching all levels, focusing more on park after the first year. In 2008, he started coaching for the Mount Snow Comp Team on the weekends while continuing to teach at Mtn. Riders. During this time also started competing in multiple events, from local rail jams, slope styles, and big airs to USASA Nationals (Open Class), Rev Tours, and other higher tier competitions. In 2012, he started working at  Woodward Copper where he continued to coach on snow during the winter as well as the summer at camps in June-July held right on Copper Mountain.  During this time, he also gaining valuable knowledge of trampolines and air awareness at Woodwards facility at the base of Copper. In the past, he has been sponsored by Never Summer (’11-’12) and Echelon Snowboards (’12-’14) as well as being a member of Carinthia’s C-Team in 2010-2011 with a part in the first movie “C: The Movie”. Since 2014 he has been sponsored by Rossignol Snowboards. He currently has a Level 1 AASI Certification and is a Level 200 USASA coach. When not snowboarding in the summer, he also works as a Stage Technician and Rigger in the Local 77 I.A.T.S.E., setting up for concerts and other types of entertainment.

David McCarthy, Head Snowboard Coach

David is an alum of Mount Snow Academy, and also a coach at High Cascade Snowboard Camp on Mount Hood in Oregon. David has competed in USSA Rev Tours and achieved multiple podiums from USASA National Championships with the Academy team. He is joining us for his second season while finishing up his degree at Empire State College. David is a level 100 certified USASA coach and joining the academy this season as the interim head coach. Along with snowboarding, David played college lacrosse and paintball for SUNY Oswego.

 

Josh Kennedy, Snowboard Jumpstart Coach

Josh has been a part of snowboarding for over 28 years and has always maintained a passion for its culture. He has helped riders progress at every level since his involvement. Josh’s earlier years of snowboarding were filled with podium finishes in dozens of regional and national competitions. Josh now enjoys sharing the love of snowboarding with his two sons, Owen and Haven, and the Mount Snow Academy Team. He is a Level 100 certified coach with experience coaching at USASA Nationals. He placed first at the Forum Young Bloods and was invited to attend the Nixon jib fest in Big Bear California in the early 2000’s. There, he rode with some of the most influential snowboarders of all time such as JP Walker and Jeremy Jones. Previous to moving to South Lake Tahoe, Josh also placed first at the Pro Big Air held at Mount Snow, which took place before the development of Carinthia, Killington Big Air, Sunday River Big Air, Crotched Mountain Slope/Big Air, and Nashoba Big Air. He had multiple sponsors through the years. He was a part of the Eastern Boarder team and won first place at the Shop Invitational team jib fest in Rochester NY. He also competed in the US Open and Vans Triple Crown Series. Josh was able to spend multiple winters snowboarding in South Lake Tahoe, riding local mountains and exploring some of Tahoe’s famous backcountry and famous spots such as the Donner Pass road gap.
