The Board of Directors at Mount Snow Academy (MSA) has hired Peter Stokloza to take over as the Head of School. This year, MSA has seen extensive growth with significant improvements in the snowsports and academic arenas.
According to the Chairman, “The MSA Board was particularly impressed by Peter’s leadership experience, breadth of athletic & academic knowledge and passion for snow-sports academies. His understanding of the special qualities and characteristics of Mount Snow Academy will help him expand upon our strengths and continue to advance our mission. We all look forward to a great future for Mount Snow Academy under Peter’s leadership”
Todd Ormiston, the current Head of School, is preparing for his new position as Executive Director of the North Country School/Camp Treetops in upstate NY and we wish him and his family well. Todd brought significant changes to Mount Snow Academy, including establishing a campus for the school and more than doubling enrollment during his tenure.
Todd says “Peter will be a tremendous asset to the continued growth and development of Mount Snow Academy. In his first year at MSA, Peter established an exceptional culture and professional approach to the alpine program, and I am sure he will do the same for the entire school in the coming years.”
Peter’s experiences include leading the BBTS (Black and Blue Trail Smashers) Snowsports Educational Foundation and Waterville Valley Academy as their CEO and Head of School from 2004-2017. While working with the US Ski Team from 2000-2004, he also developed relationships with many snowsports academies, athletes and leaders throughout the United States. A former division 1 ski racer and academy athlete, Peter has always been part of the competitive snowsports landscape. Last year Peter was the Alpine Program Technical Director for MSA, working with many Alpine athletes and families. During this time he also formed strong working relationships and networks with the Mount Snow Training Center and Mount Snow Ski Area, key partners to MSA’s long term success. Peter has an MBA, is a level 500 alpine coach, and his education, experience, and certifications are well suited for his new role.
“Mount Snow Academy has a tremendous group of student athletes and families who are passionate and committed to competitive skiing, riding and rigorous academics. The MSA community is one that supports the journey of each individual in the pursuits of their passion and ultimate goals. I’m honored to be leading the school, its dedicated staff, and our students in this exciting pursuit and look forward to skiing with my children next season!” – Peter Stokloza
