Marvelwood Trimester at Mount Snow Academy

Marvelwood Trimester at Mount Snow Academy
“The Pterodactyl Session”

November 30th, 2020 – March 19, 2021 (extensions welcomed)
Academic Break: December December 24 – Jan 1
Training Breaks: December 24 & 25 and Dec 31 & Jan 1

For Marvelwood students wanting to pursue their passion for winter sports among like-minded student-athletes (with elite coaching & training opportunities), and for our MSA student-athletes seeking a customized academic experience – the Marvelwood Trimester provides the best of both worlds. Individualized learning and a rich variety of courses and extracurricular activities in a warm and welcoming community make Marvelwood’s approach a stand-out in the world of boarding schools. Thanks to a generous donation from the Carpenter family (yes, Jake Burton Carpenter, founder of Burton Snowboards, is a Marvelwood Alum!), Marvelwood has a world-class gym where our student-athletes can keep their strength and conditioning primed to hit the slopes at the end of November. And, in case winter comes early, Marvelwood’s ski and snowboard teams train at Mohawk Mountain.

When it is time to head north to Vermont, Marvelwood student-athletes will bring their curriculum with them, where MSA Instructors will co-teach classes ranging from English Literature to AP Chemistry. With an overview of the curriculum and close communication with Marvelwood Teachers, MSA Instructors will be able to adjust the pacing to accommodate the training and competition schedule. Marvelwood student-athletes will have the reassurance of regular contact with their teachers and classmates at Marvelwood, and benefit from the highly individualized learning environment at MSA, where their questions drive the class discussion and their interests guide supplemental instruction.

Mount Snow Academy is pleased to partner with the Marvelwood School to offer this unique opportunity for student-athletes looking to cultivate their passion for skiing or snowboarding.

How it works:

Interested students already enrolled at:

  • The Marvelwood School will need to complete an MSA application and indicate that you are enrolled at Marvelwood and interested in the Pterodactyl Session.
  • MSA needs to apply to the Marvelwood School, and indicate that you are enrolled at MSA and interested in the Pterodactyl Session.

Interested students not enrolled at either school need to apply to both and indicate your interest in the Pterodactyl Session.

Financial aid is available. You must apply for financial aid with both schools to be considered.
