Mount Snow Academy is the only on-hill ski academy in the Northeast. The Academy building is located steps fro
m the lift in the main base area of Mount Snow. Mount Snow Academy is equally dedicated to the development of racers, freeskiers, and snowboarders. MSA has produced Olympians, National Team members and successful collegiate athletes.
Hallmarks of Mount Snow Academy are our small size and our customized training programs for each athlete. We maintain an athlete to coach ratio of less than 5:1. Our coaching staff is highly experienced and dedicated to the success of their athletes, including an individualized dry land regimen. During training, coaches routinely take video of the athletes which is used for review and analysis of technique.
Training facilities are excellent. Among other advantages, Mount Snow offers:
• The Bluebird Express, a high-speed 6 passenger detachable bubble lift unique in
North America.
• The most powerful snowmaking system in Vermont, and nationally recognized
grooming.
• 100 acres dedicated freestyle terrain, over 150 features, and 10 parks varying sizes at Carinthia.
• There are 80 trails, 20 lifts, and 80% snowmaking coverage on the four mountain faces.
For snowboard and freestyle, the smorgasbord of rails, jumps an
d halfpipes covers nearly five miles of terrain at Carinthia. Riders and skiers can choose from approximately 125 freestyle features scattered around 12 full terrain parks which include a tree-skiing area, a superpipe with 18-foot walls, a mini-pipe with 8-foot walls, an all-natural park without manmade material, and a big-air site.
Alpine skiers at MSA train for competition in Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Super G. Unlike the situation at many ski academies, MSA athletes are not limited to a particular trail or type of terrain for training. We have access to a variety of trails, which allows us to customize our daily training according to the competition schedule and weather conditions. The Peak Resorts at Mount Snow supports high-level Alpine competitions.
